Just thinking: New or a Fixer-upper?
2 Corinthians 5:17 Version (NIV) – Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
1 Peter 1:23 (NIV) – For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.
The world system (governance instituted and run with kingdom of darkness principles) teaches that human identity is in what he/she achieves – title (social strata), educational attainment or other outward things the eventually perishes with our journey on earth.
The Bible however repeated teach that our identity is NOT in anything external rather it is in our spirit being. The above verses can only make sense when we understands that our identity is in our spirit being.
Every human has a tripartite nature (spirit, Soul – mind, will and emotion and Body). When we believe and confess Christ as Savior and Lord, then His Spirit (aka Holy Spirit) connects (or bear witness) with our Spirit – giving us a NEW identity (not fixing the one we had before) – our soul and body, are later transformed, as we understand our NEW identity.
Peter the apostle, even suggests that the seed (Grk. – Sperma) of our spiritual rebirth (being born-gain is an imperishable seed), meaning we are a NEW creation – our IDENTITY is NEW. God did not do a fixer-upper on us, He gave us HIS IDENTITY.
It is this NEW identity that TRANSFORMS our soul (mind, will and emotion) and eventually how we treat our Body (the temporary abode of God in us).
So, after spiritual rebirth, you are NOT a fixe-upper, trying to look new with “works”, you are a NEW being SIRITUALLY, whose Soul and Body is Transformed as we die to Self and Live for Christ (don’t forget the obstacles to this process – Satan, the World system and Your sin nature – God has also giving us His written word, His name and His Spirit to combat the three obstacles).
I pray that the Holy Spirit will reveal more to you that what is written here.
